Big Bill Levering, has finally found his game. Even in the BGA there are not many players who can say that with a straight face after shooting a 56 for 9 holes. Bill, however, is one of the few, the proud, The Snowman.
Carrying a maxed-out handicap of 19 for 9 holes at Mt. Pleasant in Baltimore, his 56 netted him a 1-over 37, good enough to win the weekly beer, this time from Rodger “Mr. Fifteen” Swanson who hacked around the course in 51 (net 40) strokes.
Frosty’s “fine play” also earned a team victory for Commish (Ron Swanson, 48 net 38) and himself as they defeated Mr. Fifteen and Bill “Mr. FourSkin” Cockey (46, net 39) 4 holes to 2 to win yet another brewski at the fabulous Crackpot Restaurant, our designated Nineteenth Hole.
All in all, this was a very mundane round. The weather was quite threatening as powerful storms raged in the area but not a single drop fell upon the b’hoys of the BGA. Temperatures fell from a hot and humid 89 to a comfortable 67 minutes before tee time and the “fair-ish” weather produced only a couple of isolated snowmen to go along with just a few pars sprinkled in here and there for the foursome. When it was all said and done, the net scores could have been covered with a small golf towel as, after applying handicaps, they were 37, 38, 39, and 40.
