As dedicated members of the BGA, we realize that we can play Bad Golf on any course at any time. Therefore, when rating a course we may have different criteria than would a Tour Pro. For instance, The Snowman looks at a course’s slope rating and if he can shoot “slope” then it has been a good round; The Commish enjoys a good round when his cost/stoke is at a reasonable number; and Mr. FourSkin, our resident gadfly, likes to play all of the big name courses at fancy resorts. Sadly, he remembers almost nothing about them. Personally, I think there is an abundance of alcohol involved in his “away games.”
In general, we are “economically oriented” (some have said “cheap”, but that is such a judgmental word, don’t you think?). We tend to choose a $40 course instead of a $150 one. Also, on those occasions that we go upscale, we do expect and appreciate little extras such as a yardage book or tips from the starter.
With these caveats in mind we proudly and unabashedly offer up our opinions on some of the courses we have played. If you are in agreement, please let us know. If you have a different opinion then all I can say is, “that’s why they have horse races.”
